Madeline Rodriguez & Mario Charon in Strasbourg
After the wonderful time we shared last June, Madeline Rodriguez and Mario Charon are returning to Strasbourg for a new edition of Aché Y Candela. On Saturday, 21 November 2026, Candela Strasbourg invites you to a day dedicated to Cuban dance, music and culture, with four afternoon workshops followed by a big Cuban salsa night at the Blue Note Café.

Madeline and Mario know Candela Strasbourg well: for several years, they were the godmother and godfather of our Rumba Y Candela festival. We are therefore particularly delighted to welcome them back to Strasbourg to once again share their experience, teaching skills and passion for Cuban culture.
Trained in Havana, Madeline Rodriguez has extensive experience in Cuban dance. With elegance and energy, she teaches Cuban salsa, son, rumba and Afro-Cuban dances.
Originally from Santiago de Cuba, Mario Charon is appreciated for his style, musicality and commitment to Cuban dance traditions, particularly son and Cuban salsa.
Four workshops exploring Cuban and Afro-Cuban dance
The afternoon offers an opportunity to explore four different worlds, ranging from popular dances to Afro-Cuban traditions:
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Rumba Guaguancó
3:05 pm – 4:05 pm: Son Cubano
4:10 pm – 5:10 pm: Afro Eleguá
5:15 pm – 6:15 pm: Rumba Columbia
The workshops are open to all levels, whether you are a beginner or an experienced dancer.

A 100% Cuban salsa night at the Blue Note Café
After the workshops, Aché Y Candela continues on the dance floor. From 9:00 pm until 2:00 am, join us at the Blue Note Café for a Cuban salsa night with DJ Don Juan.
On the programme: a selection of Cuban music chosen for dancing and for carrying the energy of the day into a festive and friendly evening.
Admission to the evening is free.

Aché Y Candela: dance, learn and share
Above all, Aché Y Candela is an invitation to discover and share different expressions of Cuban culture. From guaguancó to son cubano, from Eleguá to columbia, and from workshop practice to the dance floor, the day offers an opportunity to explore several facets of a world in which music, dance, history and culture are intimately connected.
