Founded in 2008, the Candela Association Strasbourg is a cultural non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and sharing Afro-Cuban culture, primarily within the Strasbourg community.

The name Candela, which literally means “candle”, symbolizes the inner flame that burns in all those who are moved by the rhythms of Cuban music and dance. Through its activities, the association aims to showcase this unique cultural heritage, born from the fusion of African, Spanish, and Caribbean traditions.

Candela is not limited to dance instruction. It also seeks to promote strong human values deeply rooted in African and Cuban cultures: simplicity, tolerance, openness, hospitality, and generosity.

Weekly dance classes, particularly Cuban salsa, are at the heart of the association’s activities. In addition, Candela regularly organizes larger cultural events such as dance workshops, themed afternoons, festive Cuban evenings, and social gatherings centered around music and dance.

From 2011 to 2018, the association organized “Rumba y Candela”, a major festival entirely devoted to Afro-Cuban culture. This emblematic event left a lasting impression through its artistic and human richness, attracting enthusiasts from across France and Europe. It remains a cherished reference for all who experienced it (see Rumba y Candela Festival section).

Candela Strasbourg is a collective adventure driven by passion, cultural sharing, and the celebration of diversity.
